How I came about the name of this link

The school office was receiving a new clerk. Young, sweet and single, she was only 22 when she started. She kept addressing me as ‘kakak’ and I thought how inappropriate it was for her to do so. A more than 20-odd years of difference do not warrant me that title. I told her so and she blushed it away, not knowing how to response to my predicament.  I had made it clear to her of my discomfort and finally she relented and inquired how would I prefer to be addressed as?  Really? I responded. And she nodded her pretty young head.

There were Noraini, our pengetua, Noraini, the librarian, Ruzaini, another clerk….of all whose names end with ‘ni’.  Makcik Nani? Sounds common. Mak Nani? Sounds so much like Mak Ani,the librarian. Aunty Nani? Corny…..

So, one day I approached her and said,’Panggil makcun la…glamour sikit,’.  Heads turned and saw me mouthing those words and all hell broke loose. They were all laughing at me. Well….why not? Since every1 thinks that it is funny and no1 thinks otherwise, I am now stuck with ‘Makcun’ among the office clerks. Thus, to commemorate the birth of my nickname ‘Makcun’ and the birth of my blog..here’s 1 for you…Nazirah.

When friends remain friends

We think that our friends will remain our friends, forever. However, little did we know that sometimes we loose them, due to unforeseen circumstances, due to uncontrolled influences, due to misunderstandings and misinterpretations of words and events. Sometimes, it was just better to be apart than to be together. Knowing ourselves, our ignorance, our weaknesses, it is better to just detach ones selves rather than being buried deeper..in an unknown pit....

Busy

Mon: Went to school as usual. Morning assembly was allocated for prize giving ceremony in conjunction with the Hari Koperasi and Larian 1 Malaysia. At 1,  I went to SMK Methodist to recieve my daughter's Alia's report card. Quite dissapointed in her midyear result. From obtaining 5As in her UPSR, she did quite poorly and obtained no A. Not even for her English. 'Mencemar duli,' I told her class teacher as her siblings have been getting a sure A in their English paper throughout their sch years. Then, off I went with Zalina to accompany her and assist her with the 'Teknik Menjawap Soalan PMR Kertas BI" in SMK (A) Slim River. With Noor LAila Ab Rahim, our former teacher, we went thru it, sailing smoothly as the 121 students were attentive and reward us with questions. My Kjorians would not have done that...
Tue: Is the birth of this blog. We were supposed to begin at 230pm but I was the only early bird. Even 1 was nowhere to b seen. I am sure that he must have left school to send off his daughter and sure enough, he reemerged with a collared-T, a proof that he had gone home. Zalina joined me, slightly later and we waited for Najmah who had to send off her children and for Laila Abdullah, who had completely forgotten about this and went off home. As soon as every1 was there, we began a very interesting, full of laughter and fun course creating this blog and it did not hit us in the head that it was approaching 6pm.
Wed: School as usual before I hit WW with Aishah in tow. Went to SMK Setapak Indah and met up with my old colleagues esp. Halim and K Zee before we ended up having lunch at Raja Bahyah's home. A spread fit for a king...or queen. Then, we met Zaki for some consultation and later Niza came and joined us...and being late, paid the bill.
Thurs: Sports Day. I was stationed with 1 but with different responsibilities. I think all throughout my 9 years there, we had never been stationed in the same committee, let alone the same area. So, it was nice. Fara and I took our lunch soon as all events ended and ....zrooommm... we sped home whilst the others still awaited for the final announcement: Iskandar - Champion and Izzuddin - 1st runner up
Friday: I'll tell u in my next posting..

Be careful with our words

I have always been told that what I say and what is received is never the same. Masya-Allah. I realised that at this age, I am never good with my words, thus, harsh judgment is often passed. At times, what is in my head has difficulties making its way to the drawing board. Road humps and life hurdles differ ones interpretation and this makes us each a unique person. Remember this, Nani, when you are wearing the receiver's shoes.

Creation needs such creativity

Today is the birth of my blog. Happy birthday... With just Zalina, Najma and Laila, we were guided by Wanj, who was very patient with our antics, and our moronic questions...beats our Perdana's students....said the PK Petang.

Thank you CWanJ for his guidance....and patience....
