Be the bigger person

Have you ever got that feeling when you sense someone is suddenly just giving you the cold shoulder? (= sentap). You think hard and long for something you might have said or done to be given that treatment, but you just can’t think of a reason...

Norhafizah Manaf ‎: I have tried turning the blind eye to the cold shoulder given to me. But when you see the person every day, it still does hurt when previously he/she has always been friendly and joke around with u. I guess I am the sensitive type, this sort of silent animosity affects me so, especially when I don’t think I have done anything to deserve it....If I knew I was in any way responsible for the cold treatment, it will be easy, I can just go up and apologise and will totally understand if he/she wishes to remain cold and aloof. My experience has always been that the person has somehow gotten a-non-justified information about me, but, instead of confronting me for confirmation, chooses to give me the cold shoulder instead. Unfortunately, when all misunderstanding is ironed out, by that time the damage is already done ... I am already hurt. Unfortunately, once I am hurt, one can rest assure that I will do my best not to be hurt again...which means staying as far away as possible from the said person....yup that’s my dilemma :(

Nani-Syed Osman: Kak...I have been in ur position more than once. I think to just ignore the 'y' and go on s if nothing is wrong...will win you the battle. Of course, the gnawing feeling leaves you with some unsettling feeling. However, to pursue the matter will be futile in most cases. Treat them well; ‘em cold shoulders, and be the better and bigger person. If they are older, then, just pacify urself by reminding ye'self that you have done something to irk them. Think hard of what it is. If you still can't pin-point it, just let it go and let it drift with the breeze. If they are younger, then, conclude that they are still in the learning process. If we go on hunting in every nooks and corners of our life with all the what’s and all the whys, we might just miss out with the most wonderful events and the most awesome people who accept and treat us just the way we are...My 2 cents..
