Template for MUET Extended Writing

Here is a template that suits the generic style of the academic writing appropriate for Extended Writing. Try to make sure that all sentences that you have built either support the Thesis Statement (TS) or the Topic Sentence (TOS). If they don't, then these sentences will derail you from the subject matter and will cause you to be off-tangent (not a good place to be). Most off-tangent scripts are awarded a lower mark.

Intro (of subject matter)
1. Thesis statement  (TS)
2. agree/disagree(stand must be apparent and must be consistent throughout your writing
3. General definition of the subject matter
4. Listing of the Topic Sentences (TOS’s) TOS 1 TOS 2 TOS 3
TOS 1:

5. Wrapping up:

In wrapping up each paragraph, you can:
a) restate your TOS
b) restate your TS
c) link your TOS to your TS

  Lina Ahmad Looking at the same direction does not mean we have to look at things with a limited perspective. Of course each of us is an individual with our unique traits and characteristics. We respect those differences and complement each other instead of forcing the person we care about to change for us.

  Nani-Syed Osman Owh?....hmm... if the unique traits and characteristics which are in the same direction are unable to be developed and appreciated....how are u gonna develop and appreciate those out in the horizon??? We should start with something small...and marvel on it rather than try to go big and ended up being superficial...... 

  Azmi A Raof Well to broaden the horizon doesnt mean to be that far off, just try to expand and explore bit by bit, you will never know what u can find, if it a mistake...rectified it, if it a success enriched it, sooner or later in your twilight years u can reflect...yes we have done all that....the experienced will make u a better person in the art of loving. 

  Nani-Syed Osman If u can find what MATTERS in ur 'backyard', I'd doubt u'll venture to other pastures...(broadening ur horizon) unless u find withered flowers and shrivelled plants have loomed and cluttered the soil.... then, in ur twilight years, u'll look over ur shoulders and wondered ' why have i taken for granted what MATTERS most in my life?'

Sambutan Khas Hari Merdeka 12 September 2011

I was so taken by the Pendidikan Khas performance today, during the assembly as part of the of the presentation. Hamka did a great job coaching them. Knowing that they are special and seeing them execute the simplest task, in sync, that we don't even give a hoot, was amazing. I practically had to force back my tears as I captured the moments. Kudos Hamka for a job well done. In the hope that many more success to come, we pray with you that they will succeed....Insya-Allah
